Cold Calling Doesn’t Have to be That Cold

Six Cold Call Pointers to Warm Up Your Cold Call

  1. Avoid calling on Mondays. Mondays are usually the slow and groggy days for people since they just got back from the weekend and have a while to go till the next. The best times to call are Wednesday and Thursday between 3 P.M and 4 P.M.
  2. If they don’t pick up, avoid leaving a message or voicemail. This will most likely result in them not calling you back or forgetting to call you back. Hang upright when you hear “I’m sorry…”
  3. It’s ok to give up when not being able to get a hold of the company. If you have called every other day for the past week, then accept that it’s best to put that number to the bottom of the list and continue through the rest.
  4. It’s good to show eagerness towards a potential employer, but be sure to not mistake eagerness with overbearing excitement.
  5. Make sure to listen and pay attention to what the person on the other end is saying. It’s good to talk and navigate the conversation, but it’s not so good to just ramble on without a breathe in there.
  6. Always be on time and make sure to follow up. Try to send in anything they ask for the same day they ask you to send it in. Then call a week later to follow up.
